Editing styles and services
We offer a variety of services to help the hard-pressed scientist in his or her labors: line editing, writing or rewriting, critique of papers, and assistance with dealing with those "difficult" reviewer comments. We can also assist you in writing medical papers if you're having trouble.
Because of our backgrounds, we can deal with scientific material in most areas, from geophysics to evolution, to biochemistry. About the only we won't tackle is pure math.
Currently we write or line edit to APA, or AMA style for medical papers. We can also edit to specific journal styles. Some additional points we can assist with:
•Overall layout•Readability--restructuring overly complex sentences for clarity, taking care not to lose the essence of what is being
communicated
•Logical presentation of content (restructuring by sections)
•Correct format and placement of equations, figures, photos and illustrations
•Appropriate scientific terms and units

If your book or medical paper needs a major formatting overhaul, you will incur an additional charge for fixing it. Also, it helps us enormously if you know which journal or publishing house you propose to use, since we can edit to that journal's or publisher's house standards. Editing in MS Word allows us to offer you tracking features so you can see what's been edited, and insertion of comments (highlighted text) to draw attention to items that we cannot fix, or to comment on repetitive types of errors we might see in the text.
Critiquing of scientific papers
Our Style
and Critique service addresses those situations in which you suspect that
your work isn't all it could be, or a number of reviewers indicated your
paper or book is lacking in certain areas. (Having seen hundreds of these
comments over the years, we must admit we are baffled by them, too, from
time to time.) If it's within our capability we are more than happy to quote
you to fix all the problems within a given manuscript on this basis. Depending
on the size of the manuscript and how much rewriting, reorganization, and
rework it will take costs will typically vary from about $200 to $800.

Please note we have the capability both to verify literature sources for accuracy and conduct systematic searches for reviews or relevant literature to cite in manuscripts.
